Regarding the Enhancement of Microsoft Account Security

In recent years, Microsoft has been strengthening the security settings of Microsoft accounts as part of its policy.

Due to these security enhancements, users may be required to undergo multi-factor authentication (MFA) when signing in to Microsoft 365 (including email, Teams, Office, etc.), regardless of their individual settings.

Therefore, when signing in to Microsoft 365 with your university Microsoft account (@u or @un), if you encounter situations such as:
Being prompted for multi-factor authentication, or
Being asked to set up the Authenticator app,
please refer to the following university web pages for assistance.
※ Your UTID and password are required to access it.

▼ When prompted for multi-factor authentication (e.g., when the currently registered phone number is unavailable):

▼ When asked to set up the Authenticator app (for enhanced security, we recommend setting up the Authenticator app or SMS-based phone number authentication):

Regarding Storage Capacity Limits for Microsoft 365

Due to changes in Microsoft’s tenant storage capacity specifications, the storage utilization within our university has become constrained. As of November 2024 approximately 80% of the allocated storage has already been used.
Considering this situation, we will review and revise the storage limits for individual accounts and SharePoint sites in Microsoft-related services. The details decided so far are as follows:

  • Implementation Period : From May 2025 (Reiwa 7)
  • Target Users : Microsoft account holders under the university’s @u/@un domain
  • Affected Services and New Storage Limits Post-Implementation :
    • OneDrive : Faculty/Staff: 100 GB per user, Students: 50 GB per user
    • SharePoint : 100 GB per site*

※Note: A SharePoint site is automatically created for each Teams group. Please check the storage capacity of your Teams-associated SharePoint sites.

Important Notes
  • From May 2025 onwards, any OneDrive or SharePoint exceeding its storage limit will be set to “read-only”.
  • We recommend taking early action during FY2024 to delete unnecessary data.
After the limits are enforced, any OneDrive or SharePoint exceeding its prescribed limit will become “read-only,” preventing new uploads or file updates. Please back up your essential data and delete unnecessary files in advance.
(Note: Moving files to the Recycle Bin alone does not delete them. Please ensure complete deletion from the second-stage Recycle Bin.)
