Notification for network connection interrupted by SINET maintenance (6/3, 6/22)

SINET notified maintenance schedule for network connection for Tsukuba university and Tokyo campus as follows.

Date and time: Monday, June 3, 2024, 1:30 a.m. to 3:00 a.m.
Work content: SINET maintenance.
Affected area: Network interruptions lasting several seconds, several times to outside campus and to Tokyo campus.

Date and time: Saturday, June 22, 2024, 4:30 a.m. to 6:00 a.m.
Work content: SINET maintenance.
Affected area: At Tokyo campus, network interruptions lasting several seconds, several times to outside Tokyo campus (Including outside of university).

(provisionally supported) Regarding email accounts for March 2024 graduates (update 2024/4/12)

Due to a system malfunction, the email accounts of those graduating at the end of the 2023 academic year were locked. We were worked on a temporary solution. Accounts will be made available in due course.

As this is a temporary solution, only email will be available from 2024/04/20 onwards.

Regarding the impact of SINET maintenance on the Tokyo campus network(5/4)

University of Tsukuba uses SINET for external network connections. SINET informed that Tokyo campus will have interruption for internet connection.

Work content: SINET maintenance
Impact: Network connection for outside the Tokyo Campus. A disconnection occurs several times.

Maintenance with communication interruptions in the backbone network(3/26、3/27)

The following work will be performed with communication breakdowns on the backbone network.
All of this is carried out within the planned working days.

Date and time:Tuesday, March 26 10:00~12:00
Work contents:Maintenance of On-Campus Wi-Fi System
Impact:The signal being sent from On-Campus Wi-Fi system will stop.

Date and time:Wednesday, March 27 10:00~12:00
Work contents:Maintenance of external connection equipment
Impact:Network connection breakdown will occur several times for about 10 minutes on all off-campus lines and the Tokyo campus connection line.

End of provision due to the end of MS support for Office 2019 for Mac

Microsoft support for Office 2019 for Mac ended on October 10, 2023.

Therefore, we will also end the provision of the download station (software distribution management system) at our university.
Office 2019 for Mac will continue to work for a while, but please upgrade to the new version of Office from a security perspective.

For the upgrade

If you have a @u or @un email account, then using the comprehensive agreement between our university and Microsoft, you can install Microsoft 365 Office app, launch and sign in to use it.

For more details on Microsoft 365 Office (personal use of Microsoft products), please refer to Microsoft Products (for private use)/

If you use Microsoft 365 Office (which has been installed by the PC administrator user) on a PC shared by multiple users having @u or @un, please create a PC account (profile) for each user. Every user can sign in then use it after login the PC with his/her own PC account.
* Using Microsoft 365 Office from a common PC account (same ID/password) suffers from the risk that one’s OneDrive, etc., are open to access by multiple persons.
