Q.1: I did not apply for ArcGIS or SPSS during the application period conducted by the Academic Computing and Communications Cente in November of 2025. Is it still possible to apply for these programs now?

Q.2: Can a single license be shared among multiple users?
A.2 Since each license is assigned to single user, it should not be shared.

Q.3 Regarding usage fees for Researcher (Non-Full-time): Should I apply as “Faculty/Staff” or as a “Student (for research purposes)”?
A.3 If you are a Researcher (Non-Full-time) using your own research funding (KAKENHI), please apply as “Faculty/Staff.” If you do not have your own research funds, please apply as a “Student (for research purposes).”

Q. 4: Can I pay the usage fee at my own expense?
A.4. Personal payments are not accepted. Payment for ArcGIS and SPSS must be made using internal university funds managed through the University of Tsukuba’s financial accounting system. Please consult the Finance and Accounting manager regarding internal administrative budget, such as laboratory, educational unit budgets and research funding (KAKENHI).

Q.5 Can students apply to use ArcGIS and SPSS?
A.5 Students cannot apply for access themselves. Please consult your supervising professor or your affiliated educational unit (such as your College and Degree Program).

Q.6. When can I start using SPSS and ArcGIS?
A.6. You can use them immediately after submitting the application form. We do not send approval notifications unless there are issues with the application. Please download and use the software directly from the respective license pages.

Q.7: Do I need to apply for SPSS or ArcGIS that is already installed?
A.7. Yes, you do. Please submit an application form.

Q.8: Can Non-degree Research Student (Kenkyusei), Visiting Researchers, and Part-time staff use the service?
A.8: Yes, they can. However, an application form must be submitted, and usage fees must be covered by internal university funds.

Q.9: Is there a fee for using SPSS or ArcGIS on Zengaku Computer System or previously installed software to PC?
A.9. Yes, there is a fee. Users must pay regardless of the software version or location of use (e.g., personal PC or Zengaku Computer System).
